Watch a comet make its 1st and ultimate go by the sun this weekend

The comet C/2022 A2 (Pan-STARRS) will go shut by the sun on Sunday (Feb. 19), making its closest strategy, or perihelion, when it would briefly be seen within the night sky. This will probably be its first and ultimate go to to the sun for the comet because the star’s gravity is predicted to slingshot it out of the solar system.

According to In the Sky (opens in new tab) from New York City the comet will probably be seen from round nightfall on Sunday. It will rise over the northwestern horizon at round 6:36 p.m. EST (2336 GMT) and it will likely be positioned within the constellation of Cygnus. C/2022 A2 (Pan-STARRS) will not be seen for lengthy, the comet will sink to simply 20 levels over the horizon at round 7:06 p.m. EST (0006 GMT).
